FAQ

Sick/Absent FAQ: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.

  • No, your child cannot come to school with cough drops.  Please refer to the "Medications at School" link for further information.

  • Your child must be fever-free(less than 100 degrees)for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Before your child returns to school wearing a cast or using crutches, the parent should obtain a note from the physician stating that your child is able to return to school, the diagnosis, and that they can use the crutches in school.  There should also be a note from the doctor regarding expected time out of physical education.

  • If your child is unable to participate in gym on any given day, a written note is required from the parent stating the reason for the excuse.  If your child needs to be out of gym for more than one week due to illness/injury, a written note from your child's doctor is required stating the reason for excuse and the length of the excuse.

  • When your child visits the health office a thorough assessment is made of his/her complaint.  If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea or it's your child's SECOND visit with the same complaint a call is placed to a parent/guardian.  We do not routinely call for minor cuts and scrapes, unless it is absolutely necessary.  If a student requests to call a parent because he/she is not feeling well, the call is ALWAYS made.

  • If your child is absent from school, on the day of his/her return, you must send in an absence note to school stating a reason for the absence. Please note that if your child was out with an illness, please state the illness.
